Tragic accident involving reclining chair and almost new laptop... [8(] Screen has crackage across a large proportion of display, with black bleeding. :(

'tis a Dell Inspiron 15R and I seem to remember something about LED screen in the blurb. Looks like 40-60 might buy a replacement screen at the bay of E.

Anything to watch out for w.r.t where it comes from; or how to install? I presume Dell will want arm + leg + VAT for a genuine one?

I'm reasonably OK with taking stuff apart and getting it back together again, but any tips from those who've done this sort of job before would be very welcome.

Please help cheer up a glum Mrs EZ_Pete. :)

Dead easy to be honest Pete!

I've used the 60ish ones off eBay in the past and the quality is fine. I have an eBay one running in one of my Vaio machines.

Just looked on eBay and yeah, seems that there are a billion sellers all offering suitable replacement panels for your machine for just 40, which is great. Just pick a good seller who is definitely selling a genuine grade A panel where possible.

You'll find it a piece of cake to do. Just the usual faff of prising open casings, etc. And be very careful with the ribbon cable(s) and connector.

If you use Google, you can generally find a how to somewhere as well, but as Trev says, not too difficult.

No job is properly completed unless you have fasteners left over!
