I recon the mk1/mk2/mk3/mk4 c/cl/e look like piles of sh1t as well as that mk5. The GTI does look 100 times better, check out a pic of it.
I actually quite like it. Needs a decent set of rims, a lowering job, and some minor bodywork changes (colour code the handles etc, maybe a debadged grille), and I'd be happy driving it!

looks best from the back.... but it just doesnt look aggressive enough... you dont look at it and think "id love a go in that"
Was looking at a Polo today and it is very similar to Golf(not necessarily a good point).I may be bias but since Mk1 and 2 its been all downhill in the originality of design. As always a GTI does look better but if the base car is minging then you have a job on your hands.
it looks like a small minivan. but i suppose its all about how it drives. If the new suspension setup is as good as the hype i've heard would imply (it never is) then it won't be all bad... but thats not gonna happen... poor VW.
