There is really not much to say about that clip ben. I can only presume folks had less of a grasp of the laws of physics back then.

X Games rallying has a lot to answer for, introducing cars jumps into racing. its not pole position or speed racer!

 

Hmm, a little more research proves that Doran junior needs to raise his game a little. There were folk jumping far bigger, heavier and cheaper cars before he was even born.

Man, when I was 6 I wanted to jump my car over a lorry filled with empty boxes. Life was much simpler then. I didnt even question why they didn't transport those boxes flat packed. [:^(]

Don't know what the going rate is these days for moonshine, but those Duke boys must have very deep pockets!

 

The Ford Gran Torino in the first clip looks folded in half as it lands lol

 

A bit of googling shows that about 300 Dodge Chargers were used making the Dukes of Hazzard series. Large jumps meant they would be scrap from the structural damage after the violent impact upon landing.

I'd say the one at 2min's was one of them, although the landing wouldn't suggest it was that bad from inside the car lol.
