I thought it was worth starting a thread to highlight what tools are on offer, as it changes regularly. You have to be careful what you're buying, but most of the stuff I've bought has been really good quality for the price.

Beware of the power ratings on LIDL's power tools though - sometimes they're too weak to be of much use, so it's worth comparing with other websites.

There's a battery charger for 4.88, as part of the motorcycling promotion - looks like a trickle type charger, but might be ok to use on cars too.

Still waiting for the LED lights to come back in!

Bought a vice today, from LIDL - 12.99. Time will tell if it's any good...

I think the battery chargers are only 600ma charging current, so would take ages to charge a bigger battery - the advice on the pack is up to 12 amp-hours, so more for motorbikes I think.

They're selling cheap crash helmets though... anyone need a helmet for trackday passengers?

Haven't taken it out of the box yet - was working on the car every night last week till 10/11pm, so been short of time.

It's a swivel job too, so that should come in handy. If it breaks I'll buy a 2nd hand one, but it's got to be worth a punt at that price. The postage on a 2nd hand one would be about the same as it cost.

    the vice sucks donkey balls.

I keep a (aldi) mallet behind mine to tighten up the handle propely, otherwise things just move in it.

I know someone who bought the bench grinder - he kept the guards, wheels, and threw the rest away (chreaper than buying them separately for his other one).

Some of the power tools are very underpowered - always a good idea to compare power ratings with known brands.
