Are they of any use on a road car?
    Are the stupidly expensive?
    Should I?

Infinity has one. Only enough to run the engine and a few other essentials. Not recomended if you have a stereo or other extras. You may need a medium sized one for the heaters and demisters etc.

Infinity doesnt have anything apart from engine & lights to run!

it's what those [:-B] use on robot wars. mines going under the passenger seat

if you want to go really nuts then change to a red top and lost the alternator....

also how about getting one of the fibreglass boots with a plastic rear window - you can fit it for track use, then put the original boot (with heated screen...) back in for road use

got an Odyssey one in mine - put it in middle of where back seat used to be on the floor - PC680 (680A cranking current, 16Ah) weighs 7kg which is at least 10kg less than a std battery

Been fine so far, fitted a year ago, cost about 90. Dont use car daily though.

A mate with an RS Turbo who goes sprinting has a Red Top 20 (about 5.5kg I think) and had it in his car for 2yrs, and its his daily driver (but he has no boom boom boxes etc)

Personally I got one with a little more welly than the RT20 since my engine has a bit more compression than his

    Cheers

    Rob

    lol @ trendy tramp!

I was just thinking it's a relativley cheap way of loosing 10kg's + from the car. And i'm also thinking of re-locating at the same time.

I don't have big stereo etc, but i would need enough to run main and dipped lights, heaters, rear window and a head unit with 2 speakers.

Tubs i'd check any of the cateram/westfield cars etc... as they always seem to have the small batterys when iv'e seen them at track days.

I wouldn't move them too far from the engine bay!! I had originally had mine in the passenger footwell and since putting in the 9A i've had to move in back to to engine bay purely because the battery didn't have enough juice!!

You could probably get away with using a smaller battery than you think..... unless you sit around parked up with the car stereo on?? A battery is purely to get the car started the alternator will do the rest once the engine is running!! :)

you could run a normal battery for road use and then fit a tiny battery for track use and use a jumper battery when starting

and they replace them regularly, keep them on those 'conditioners' when not in use and they still cause trouble... Motorcycle batteries from memory.
