spoke to a mate this afternoon and he is looking over a 1999 passat tomorrow and he wants my opinion on it. any guides anyone knows of for things to look out for?? its a 20v turbo estate with 45k on the clock so should in theory have full service history too. cheers
The only real problems you get with the passat and Audi A4/A6 are the front suspension. The upper and lower control arms wear out every 50,000 miles, take the car over some uneven road surfaces and speed humps and listen for clonking and banging. You don't have to worry about dodgy vw gearboxes with 2nd gear crunch as it uses an Audi box
