I'm Looking for advice and recommendations on dash-cams please. This is to be a present for my daughter's birthday as she's mentioned she wants one. Criteria: Easy to fit, fit and forget. Hassle-free operation, auto start/stop, collision activation from stand by etc. Potentially one that connects to a phone app and/or auto uploads to cloud storage - but maybe not within my budget - just thinking that sounds easy. Budget around £100 to £150. I was looking at the little Garmin Dashcam Mini 2 but I've just discovered (at least reading the info I think this is what happens) that only activates when it detects a collision and doesn't continuously record which I think is more useful as it will record the events leading up to an incident or could be used for other reasons, i.e. near miss, witness of an incident etc. Previously for my own use, I've just used a cheap (£40) Chinese fake Go Pro (SjCAM) in dash cam mode, but want something proper and decent for my daughter. TIA
I’ve had about 6 Nextbase ones and still using 4 of them. They are very good and easy to fit. All of mine are hardwired with the nextbase kit but you can just plug them in to the cigarette lighter if you don’t fancy running wires and pulling trim off Top tip, don’t buy the base model but get the next one up and certainly don’t buy the top ones. They have so many functions you won’t use. The 222 is all you need.
I’ve got a next base one, sticks to the screen rather than a suction cup. I used it last week as a biker got in front of me. Main thing for me is you can’t see it
Another vote for Nextbase - I have one that records front and back which is hardwired. Use a proper quality SD card.
