Hi I'm having troble working out why my girlfreind lupo doesn't start. If you turn the ignishion on everything works like the head light, dash light ect but it doesn't turn over but you can bump start it. I've replaced the starter motor and it still doesn't start. Is there any thing I can do or do I have to take it to vw? Any help will be great. Cheers

run a chunky cable from the battery +ve to the red/black wire plug on the starter. if it turns over then you know its the ignition switch or the wiring from it

I'm not sure at the moment as the car at home. I don't think it's the battery as there still going to everthing esle and the light don't dip when you turn the key fully but motor don't turn over

Falsh a wire between the large cable on the starter motor or possitive battery terminal to the terminal where the smaller wire clips in on the starter, that will prove if the battery and starter are OK. IMO, there is a fault on the cranking wire, maybe the ignition fuse.

as above really, could be a dodgy earth, try the jump cable side of things. Had it on the race car where we lost the end of the cable from vibration, but as it was tucked away it was hard to see. Also had a bad connection on wifes 57 Eos, nquick clean and all was well...
