As above, does it matter where in the air inlet pipe i mount my MAF? IE a certain distance from the air filter?

    thanks

It does not matter if you have filter coupled directly to it or 1 meter in front its there purely to make sure dust is not making its way into the inlet

Your recirculating valve mounting point on the other hand is important, keep it well behind maf. if it is to close it can cause turbulance which will affect maf readings
