Magnetic sump plug

    Has anybody got a magnetic sump plug fitted?, & where would you recommend getting one from or modifying the current one.

    I really wouldn't bother if I were you. I fitted one to my Mk2 for a few months a few years back. It collected nothing at all, despite being a very strong magnet.

    Is that because there was nothing for it to collect or did you subsequently find stuff that should have been?

    They are good on things like old mini's if the the engine and gearbox share the same oil - picks up all the bits if you grind the gears etc.

    IMO it's probably not worth it unless you have recently done some engine work.

    Saying that, not an expensive or harmful thing to do :thumbup: Might be worth going to Awesome GTi or someone like that.
