ok i have a APX code 1.8t 20v from a quattro tt and i am wondering how to make it into a 2ltr, i have heard of it being done and cant find any info about it really. apparently you can use a different vw crank , but what from? am i correct in thinking that you keep the standard bore and its just the stroke that gets increased with the said crank? so does anyone know anymore about this? cheers steve
why not?? i want a large amount of hp out of it basically, and the main thing is i dont want to build my engine and find out that this is a good way of getting a little extra and not being able to do it as i have just built the dam thing. also it has been recommended but they did not know how it was done
Just think you could get more gains for your money mate as you can get loads of power with a 1.8 & you can alway bore it out at a later date. Speak to young Tom at TSR as i think he did it to his:
i am already going for loads of power and want a bigger cc why bore it later and have to get another set of forged pistons ?? i only want to build the engine once and get it as near as dammit first time, i am not a person with unlimited budget that is able to fart round with 3 different types of pistons or many different turbo set ups. am i making any sense with this
do you know what con rods are needed or the sizes ?? where did you get this info from out of interest??
steve only reason i mentioned it is that you said you want a large amount of horse power & bill has over 500bhp from a 1.9 mate. what's your budget for it?
euro spec do a 2 ltr kit which includes steel crank and pistons for reasonable money. i can partly see why you want to do it with more capacity more power can be acheived at less boast but lot more money to go 2ltr
do you have a site for this stuff?? and this is only research, if it is overly expensive i wont do it but if you dont ask you dont know
How much is a 2.0 , 2.1 20v to get built & tuned Vs a 1.8 1.9 20v with mods? Unless your doing most of it yourself....
should be able to come up with a good engine if your doing most of the work yourself, good luck with it & keep us updated. mike
i wanted a 2ltr fsi but i could not get hold of one any how's i have the 1.8t on the go and i may as well stick with it
ok eurospec dont do it for the engine i have ok then what is involved in making it a 1.9? just a rebore i assume
i knew that just did not write it for some reason does anlyone know the new piston and bore size required?? (badger bill)
