    Updated at last page...

    ---------------------------------------------------------- --------

Alright Peeps...as you might have noticed from my flurry of random
engine Qs i've actually got round to booking a week off work to have a
    stab at my engine conversion...

    Should be a great/difficult
learning curve/experiance as the most i've done before is strip a head.
But have to try it to learn!

Apologies to peeps in advance for hassling with lots of questions! I'll post pics up everyday to show how i'm doing.

Day 1: Not much, mainly comparing bays and working out how various systems will go together.

    Day
2: Stripped Passat front down, most off stuff off the engine except
fuel gubbins, Air box, Drive Shafts, Exhaust Manifold (thinking might
be easier to split further down system and pull it out with the
    engine?).

One Bogey Green Passat GL Estate (9A 2.0 16V) (On charge!):

One Engine Crane, as borrowed off a manager at work (well pleased with that blag...):

    One mk1 GTI:

PS: If anyone wants anything off the Passat (Interior bits/widetrack?/disks all round) or a mk1 GTI engine, let me know!

lol...ok, I know, I know, slow start! Got up really late...first
mistake. I've ben taking it really slowly, labeling, taking
    notes, taking photos etc.

Day one was only a few hours of comparing bits, was back home in Reading most of day.

My rough aim is to have both engines stripped by Tues eve and ready to
come out. Spend Wed fiddling with them and getting right bits together

Anyway...roll on tomorrow, but cheers anyway[:s]

Good stuff, keep us updated on progress.
I just did a 6A swap into my Mk2 16v, was good fun but a fair bit more straightforward than putting a 16v in a Mk1 I would imagine. That said, you won't have PAS and all the other gubbins to worry about! :)

thats what everyone said to me...but its def a 2.0L Passat GL (going by
the V5 etc) the guy I bought it off certainly wasn't dodgy, he was just
selling 'part exchanges' from his local garage who didnt want them on
    their forecourt.....

    and its def 16V...

Well i'm normally at No-Rice every month, and the car was prev owned by
a guy called Chris off the mk1 Owners Club from near the Pod. He's an
inters regular with his mk1 cab from what I gathered at the time. This was
his wifes 'runabout' until nipper came along.

The Jag is my dads 2.4 mk2, was my Grandpas car when he was chief of police in the area[:D].
