    Finally got my car back from Stealth on Wednesday
    freshly fitted with the 9a , BRM head, lightened crank
    and flywheel.

    * No air induction kit
    * 12 year old injectors
    * Standard KR cams

    I was really dissapointed [:^(] at the bhp only being
    177 . Was hoping for at least 180. Vince reckons its
    something to do with the injectors and
    recommended I replace them ASAP to get everything
    running more effectively and less lean.

    So...consequently I have been searching high and
    low on the forum to see if any injector related queries
    have been posted before...and as I expected they
    have...However what I cannot find is:

    * Will Merc injectors work in my 9a?
    * Will they be better than using standard VW 9a
    injectors?
    * What part number from GSF are the Merc injectors
    so I can buy buy buy !!!! :)

    TSC - I know you know loads about this...can you
    shed any light...? I must hit 180bhp
    ARRghghghhghghg!! !!!!!!!

    Cheers guys,

    Chris.

    Dude, sorry to nitpick..............but in terms of searching for 3bhp, you REALLY won't notice it all that much.

    In the interests of a clean burn, etc and smooth running, yeah I agree, source the new injectors. But doing it purely for 3 bhp is not worth it.

    Disappointed with 177bhp??? From a two litre 16v on std injection still? Why? THat is PERFECTLY respectable for an old engine design, especially a VW one.

    I'd be quite chuffed to be honest. As long as it is quick, and satisfys you driving it, the power figure is not relevant at all, save for the small talk BS at meets.

    A lot of people have reported power gains with them, but it remains to be seen whether it's due to having new injectors in, or the difference in the injectors! And I can't see anyone who would buy a VW set new and a Merc set new, to compare..... but the Merc ones don't rust, and don't need that silly wee hat on the top to make them atomise correctly. 23.50 each plus the dreaded..... I think they were about 18 last time I bought some! Must be shoving the prices up because the 190's are getting old and all need new injectors......
