I'm trying to get my golf back on the road and having gone through rubjohnnys setting up guide it pointed to the metering head or injectors, having opened up the metering head it was full of solid deposits which I'm fairly sure/hopefull is the problem.
I bought a rebuild kit from eBay and cleaned out all the deposits and put it back together, I put it back on and tried it and fuel leaked between the 2 halfs. How tight should the 8 hex bolts be? And the guide said it didn't need gasket sealer but a video on YouTube they used some, is this okay and would it be likely to solve the problem? Any other help/advice appreciated

a guide I have saved recommends Permatex Indian Head Shellac as a sealer, leave to dry for a few minutes. then do the bolts up to 48 in-lbs gradually in sequence
