MK 3 Gearbox oil change

    Has anyone done this i was thinking of putting synthetic in my MK 3 8v 1995 as ive heard it makes a big difference to smoothness of box but i cant work out where the drain and refil plugs are haynes looks very confusing when compared to car can anyone post an idiots guide if possible

    is that cable or rod change??

    the drain is easy to spot,its the lowest point of the box

    hi brind, i think you'll find what looks like a huge allen bolt head at the bottom of the box on the nearside of the box. 17mm I believe, get the little tool from any motorspares shop or even halfords. I let mine drain for 2 hours, sounds a bit anal but after an hour, it was still piddlin' out!If your gonna change all the oil, change ALL the oil :lol: ;)
