My 1.3 Driver Pretty much standard Externally apart from the Audi 80 alloys which were on it when I got it, which came in handy when upgrading the brakes. Interior wise it's standard, though I have now moved the headunit down into the centre console and putting 3 VDO gauges above the heater controls. Mechanical Modifications: Audi Calipers and Carriers Passat 22mm Master Cylinder and 9" Servo Standard Mk2 16v Discs and Pads Goodridge Braided Hoses Weber Replacement Carburettor How the Bay looked like when I got it... ....and how it looks now, shiny new carb (minus battery and airbox) Arty Picture Hope you like James.

Cheers guys Not yet got around to the cleaning the top corners of the wings yet in fact the whole area around where the wiper motor sits, how rude Your list pretty much covers my initial intensions as to things to replace/polish . Probs see from the after pic that I had a go at the cambelt cover by hand could really do with a dremel . By the way, have you got polished top mount covers in your Mk1? If so, how much and where from?
Cool, might have a gander at what they've got! How the 'eck did that work it's way out must have been giving it some
On paper it's got a 13.2 to 60mph (optimistic?) and 18.9 quarter mile not yet done anything like that with it, but might do when I get the gauges in there and working , oh and getting the carb setup properly still got to get that done somewhere!
You planning on keeping it a 1.3 then? What do you hope to get out of it when you've got everything going as you'd like it? Are you planning to keep it as a get around or just build it up to sell it for something a bit more potent? As a fellow 1.3 driver (albeit a heavier MKII no doubt ) I'm keen to see what can be done. I should probably add that I do quite like it too. Very nice. Tom Edited by: Ghost
All depends on what money will be avaliable (and when I can find another job ) If I'm to keep it on the road for quite a while then I'd probably clean up the engine bay even more will polished items and all that, re-locate the battery, get a pedal switch for the brake light as it's got a T-piece on there at mo. Don't think I'd go to the length of smoothing anything, just cleaning everything up will do. Maybe a few modifications to the engine, including twin 40's, bit of head work with a good cam along with a Polo GT gearbox. Better cooling of water and oil, bigger rad of some sort and a GTI oil cooler. Touch up the paintwork a bit/re-spray (damn those pics came out well ). Then to cut it short, 15' ATS Cups, Coilovers, stripped out interior, bucket seats, harnesses etc etc.... Motorsport look on the inside with a nice clean engine bay and exterior. Sorry for the long list, got a bit carried away If my next job pays well, then it will be coming of the road sooner for a fairly big project so I might try and find another small engine'd Mk1 or maybe a GTI to run around it.
Forgot to mention, hopefully getting some ARB's and wishbones for it soon. Could do with new rubber to complement them but I'll have to wait for the ATS Cups i think [:^(]
Wow looks clean! Think I'll be having a go at the engine bay in mine sometime in the spring... That's well tidy!
Cheers peeps It was a bit of an on and off task with the bay, but I used a firm toothbrush, some Mer (worked quite well!), couple of cloths and one of those filler applicators for the waxoyl. There's probably an easier way, oh well
