OK, so my mk1 Scirocco has the following: Autocavan brake bar Mk2 Golf 16v servo and 22mm m/c 239mm front discs Mk2/3 Golf rear discs and calipers I suspect that the in-line proportioning valves are from a drum-braked car because it does a 180/360 when you slam on the brakes. Bit scary as you can imagine with an ABF/ITB set-up. In the shed, waiting to go on, is a Tech-53 Wilwood kit - 4 piston calipers onto 280mm discs. I'll also be fitting a 23mm Seat m/c. I will be fitting the 6N2/Ibiza rear stub axle/bearing/disc set-up and will have a choice of Polo GTI (34mm), Mk4 Golf (38mm) or the current (36mm??) Mk2/3 Golf calipers. My initial thoughts are to remove the in-line prop valves and fit the smaller Polo calipers. Does this sound sensible? Appreciate any input
I think you should keep the valves, hold off on the M/C and fit the smaller Polo calipers. You can punch the numbers on this to see how the bias would work out without. http://www.tceperformanceproducts.com/bias-calculator/ I have some conversion figures pre done that I use myself.
