Mk1 fan bearing- Replacment???

    Guys,

    Finally got to get my noisy mk1 golf heater fan out. can't go another full winter with that Fing noise!

    Can you replace the bearing or is a new unit needed. If so any idea if there available.

    I was gonna write the same post!

    I took mine out at the weekend and sprayed loads of WD40 down the spindle which has helped a bit but it still squeaks. Anybody got any suggestions other than buying a new unit for 60?

    Can you get the unit out from the engine bay side rather than striping the dash?

    The Haynes Manual would have you believe that you can but it didn't seem possible without possibly removing the linkage for the windscreen wipers [:s]

    I just unfastened mine and pulled it out at an angle so I could squirt some oil down the spindle.
