I never used the subframe, I cut the engine mounts off it and welded it directly onto the Mk1 bodyshell (with some more custom fabricated stuff too).

The radiator is a Passat diesel rad, its the same width as the VR6 rad but less tall. I turned it upside down (so the hose connections are on the other side) and chopped off the little pegs/locators (now on top) then fabricated little slots to sit it on the front panel. Then cut a little off the back of the top area on the front panel (and strengthened it later) so the rad can sit much further forwards. The fan housing is a cut down Mk3 Golf one (its just plastic/fibre, easy to trim) and everything connects up really nicely that way. You also gain the twin fan VR6 setup that way too.

Time for another update i thought. Still been cracking on with the body work, the passenger sides sill and arch have now been replaced and the lower section of the rear valance too.

    Out with the old

    In with the new!

I have ordered my new wheels[:D] and coilovers, you will have to wait and see what wheels they are:p , but the coilovers are here. I may have to do some arch mods, so the body work has now come to a stop till the wheels arrive.

I have now turned my attention to the fuel tank and underneath of the car.
I had to mod the fuel tank to be able to take the VR6 pump, which basically meant cutting a hole in it.

Also to stop the pump moving in the tank i made a litle cage for it to sit in, not the prettiest, but it will do the job!!

    The cage

I also cleaned up the rear axle.

The rear axle was not as wide as the mk3 (as im using the mk3 front subframe the rear needs to be wider) so i fabbed up some spacers to that go between the axle and the stub axles, now gone from 1292mm to 1360mm, wide track ahoy!!! I couldnt believe that mk1 and mk3 stub axle holes all lined up, easy peasy swap!

All painted with other rear axle bits too.
