right after buying my mk1 that was quite mint i decided that it was too slow (it was a kr on 40's) so i have now ripped it all out and putting in a 2l 16v (9a) with kr cams and a 50 mm inlet , which over the winter months i plan to put in some schricks and maybe bodies ?

in between doing this it has been off to the paint shop so have some work as it had some rot coming threw . i have another door painted and ready to fit but it needs some fettling to fit !

also i have replaced the g60 steels with some oz super t's

a few new bits are being added also as shown in the pics .

any comments are welcome , can't wait to get it back on the road :)

as you can see i have been quite busy , and it has taken longer then i hoped but i have been working away which does not help .

next plan off attack is to get the astra that is infront of it towed to the scrappy next week then push it up the driveway and fit the engine and box , then im hoping to have the rear beem off to fit the new tank , as it is only a 1.1 so it has a carb tank in tit

oh also cleaned the mk5 and put the bbs's back on after combe

well the engine is largly std but it has kr cams , so im guessing with the 4 branch maybe 150 bhp ? but im planning to fit some schricks and a flowed head next year and maybe throttle bodies .i would like it to be around the 180mhp in the end but we will just have to wait and see

yeah started with mine this eve just above the rack there was a soft spot thought here we go and there seems to be a hole already there with seam sealant over so poked a drill bit through and there is a hole there so will be drilling hole to the left of it.Just got to work out how the selector will fit snug retaining the consol with out to much cutting to the consol to retain a standard look.Is that a tilton bias i see in the engine bay??

did a bit more over the weekend , got the lamba bosses welded in and wrapped the manifold , started to do the cable change bits , this involved drilling a 62mm hole threw the bulckhead and for fire risks i made a titanium fairlead to stop any probs happening . and also made a titanium plate to go over the hole where the std gearchange unit was . this will have some heat proof rubber/silicone matting then a alu plate on the top with the mech bolted on top . off to denmark for a month so not much else will happen which is a shame :( not much left to do really apart from wiring and fitting the gti tank
