    Hi,

    I have a Mk1 with a pedal box and 3 master cylinders
    1. Front Brakes
    2. Back Brakes
    3. Clutch

    I have G60 front disks/calipers
    I have Mk2 16v rear disks/calipers

I bought the car and have not driven it till last week when I took it for an MOT, and I was not too impressed with the brakes (and I have had a few Mk1s  )

I dont think the whole pedal box has been set up properly (i.e. Cylinder Sizes / Balance bar)

So has anyone got a similar setup?
If so what sort of size cylinders (front & rear) and also the bias of the balance bar are you running?

I have just bought some Porsche 996 rears to do a front conversion so maybe my cylinders will need to change anyway!

Any feedback will be cool as I have never messed with Pedal boxes before :)

It does not feel as if there is any air in the system cos the pedal is well firm but even under quite heavy force the brakes dont feel that progressive.

    Cheers

Which type is it, by chance?

I've got an Autocavan-type one, running on 0.625 cylinders for the brakes, 0.75 for the clutch.

The pedal ratio I think is a little low though.

Not sure where it was bought since it was in the car when I bought it [:^(]

Can I make some measurements from pedal/pivot then pedal/cylinder to get an idea?

Also can I see the cylinder size on the mc?

Are your brakes good then? What calipers do you run front/back?

    Luke

I run Wilwood 4-pots and am not getting enough stopping power yet.

I've yet to measure the pedal ratio, but that's the next job.

Put a picture of yours up, that'll help.

    Hi Chris,

Have you got the balance bar set in the neutral position or is it off to one side?

Will try to take some measurements/pics soon :)

That's literally on the floor, unadjusted, pre-fitment.

I run 0.625 on the rear and 0.75 on the front, I used to have some 4 pot Bremsport calipers an didn't get enougth stopping power, I am very fussy tho!

With my new 6 pots the caliper piston area has doubled and with the short travel using the 0.75 cylinder there is a bit of a lack of feel especially in the wet which can lead to easy lockup's, I'm gona try a 0.7 on the front now to get a little more modulation.

    Pedal ratio is 6:1 btw

Hi thanks for the reply :)

My pedal ratio looks to be about 5:1, and both cylinders are 0.7".

The plan is to run Porsche 996 rears up front, and standard Mk2 calipers on 239mm (?) at the back....

I think that I will need to adjust my cylinders/bias maybe?

Well dissapointed with the brakes at the mo [:x]
