Right then, as a few of you are aware, i'll be converting my Mk2 Golf soon, and of course the brakes are going to need to be upgraded.

Ive already sourced 280mm (g60) fronts, 16v rear beam with Mk3 calipers and carriers.

I'm guessing the 1.8 8v driver M/S isn't going to be up to the job, so need to know what my options are [:[]...

    * Will a M/C from a 2000 Seat Ibiza Cupra fit ok ? As ive seen one for sale !!

    * Will i need to change the servo, or will the original servo be ok ?

    * Any other recommendations (Ford Focus, ect) ?

Im quite a newbie to all this, so any info would be much appreciated.

    Cheers. Rich.

nohj62 - John did his recently, same brake upgrade as you and he used a 23.someting cylinder from a later vw car and said his brakes were awesome. I'll see if I can dig out his posts.....

std 16v/g60 22mm one will do, the one on the ibiza might be the same unit actually. if its a 1.8 driver then you already have the 9" servo, though its a good opportunity to have the thing off for a clean up and paint

Will keep an eye out for a 16v/g60 one.

Good to know i already have the 9" servo.

So am i right in thinking that the 16v / G60 m/c shouldn't cause any issues with hitting the timing belt cover ect ?

Will be using solid mounts so hopefully not alot of engine movement!

I've got a 22mm one in mine and no issues at all with fitting, works really well.

ah thought you were doing an abf swap! with 1.8t the 22mm can get close depending on the style of them.
if so you either fit the 1.8t cupra one with a spacer (see sc0rians rallye 20v build thread) or fit a specific passat rear engine mount bracket to shove the engine forward.

So im guessing the 1.8T cupra one is a direct fit using a standard MK2 servo ?

Do you mean the Ibiza Cupra one ?

you need a spacer to fit it, but yeah ibiza 1.8t has the shorty one. you can also find the same master cylinder on certain models of ford focus :)

have a look on sc0rians rallye build thread he has pics and part numbers

I have the ibiza cupra R stubby one. You need to make a 3mm spacer for it to fit to, it's a 24.9? I believe, can be used for the larger brembo brakes off the ibiza cupra Rs or in my case I'm fitting some wilwood midilites with increased piston diameter to run with it.

Right then, i went to fit my Ibiza master cylinder today, and for some reason the standard MK2 unions on the end of the brake lines will not fit as they are too small, and will not screw in ?

Im quite a novice when it comes to things like this, so im just wondering what i can do to get around this ?

    Cheers.

Make new lines to the T pieces with the larger unions, or take them off take them to a good car spares and get them made with the large unions on using them as templates.

Could you use a bush to reduce the size?
