I'm trying to remove this pulley as someone has bought it. As you can see I have got the 4 x Allen key bolts out.

Does the 19mm bolt also have to come out in order to get the pulley off?

Tried heat and inpact gun but it just turns the engine. Need to lock it in position I guess, any tips on how best to do that?

    Thanks

It should come off with the 4 x allen bolts out, if you can tap out the threaded holes inbetween where you've taken the allen bolts out you can wind some longer m8 bolts in to act as a puller Big hammer required also...

Cheers for the reply, I did what you suggested after reading elsewhere to no avail, and in the end I whipped the sump off and held the crank with a bit of wood, bolt popped right off.

Sounds like you need a bigger impact gun!

Probably do to be fair. It's only a cheapo Clarke one, suspension top mounts is about its limit

Glad you got it off, put a new crank bolt in if you've undone it.

    if re-using the engine :)

    Are there different crank pulleys?
IIRC my late 8v has a multi-point bolt which holds the timing belt cog on. I didn't touch that. The other crank V belt pulleys are held on by the 4 bolts into the timing belt cog and can be removed using a hub puller.
The pic above looks different to what I remember. It was still a PITA to get the pulleys off tho.

Agreed on my old 16v the bolt was bi-hex , still 19mm.

Probably just rusty AF making it look different
