Never knew these things existed! Just 250 direct from VW Classic Parts! 8000 RPM - Obviously for an 8V! It is actually is 8V, cos it's listed as Digifiz! http://www.volkswagen-classic-parts.de/shop/
Thats not a complete unit, i don't think it has any electrics. I've already had this debate with Trev a few months ago.
You need the plugs (two of I think), mounting brackets each side and a transducer for the speedo signal. I believe the clock goes where the handbrake warning light usually resides too. IIRC you can use a transducer from a Mk3 Golf.
Yeah, Andy showed this to me a few months back and I pointed out that it's just the front part of the plastic housing containing just the LCDs. Not a complete unit with PCB. I know someone who bought one a couple of years back thinking it was a complete unit. Still an interesting buy though, because a lot of Digifiz front faces are in poor condition.
wow there are some parts on that site that I think are going to take hold of the wallet in a few weeks
On another forum, some lad saw one and wanted it, breaker man said 30 he said f that and walked off! Bit gutted when he found out how much go for
Ahh, this must be VW's poor attempt to compete with the Vauxhall GTE dash. Unfortunately for VW, they lose as the Red Top 16v engine and Digital dash from Vauxhall appear clear winners in comparison.
When I did my electronics apprenticeship we built quite a few digital dashes and shift light indicators. Quite cheap to build but personally I love nothing more than watching the needles whip round on the dash
I should have realised that you lot would know about them already! http://www.clubgti.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=185248 If anyone is really interested, get in touch with them. There is a contact form somewhere on the site. I have found them quite helpful in the past. The electronics required might still be available, but not listed as classic, if they were still used in later cars? Danny. I beg to differ. That one is much too blingy! Not exactly in the German, 'Form Follows Function', Bauhaus tradition! More important: Tiny little tacho., in the wrong place, and it only goes to 7000 RPM. ps. I have always been a bit anti 'Black Holes' because they were standard fitment on all but the earliest UK RHD UR Quattros, as were sunroofs and half leather interiors. All aimed at increasing the price and ripping off the UK enthusiast.
impressed with the bits on that site. Reasonble prices too, compred to some crazy prices you see on ebay and ed38 for badges, grilles and clips etc... D
