My white one had a load of pink patches, original owner would red oxide a massive masked off patch if had a stonechip, then spray it with white duplicolor. Suppose it preserved the spread, but looks like a salmon splinter camo effect in places.
There are some rust convertor/remover products that should help, note the rust convertors need the rust to create a reaction, however you'd need to get rid of the crusty rust! Have a read-up on Bilt Hambler and Rustbuster products
As others have said they look fine, definitely worth saving. Onwards to the next reason to utter 'bloody car', heh
I have used both Bilthamber and Rustbuster products and they are both excellent. I have recently bought Bilthamber as they work out slightly cheaper and their customer service is very good. Two part epoxy mastic is brilliant stuff and I wouldn't use anything else for outer rust proofing now.
I've been using the bilthamber product for about 2 years and am happy with it. Okay so saving these may not be the easiest way, or the cheapest. But I believe they will better Lot of hassle though Phil Ryder, what is the 2 part epoxy you mention?
Appreciate this is an old 'wing' related thread, but anyone had any new wings recently and have a view to where to/not to go to get them? Don't think I will be as lucky as the OP with mine so new ones are needed.... Looking at Heritage they are circa £55 each, but as mentioned is this for a reason? While I am at it are they easier to paint on or off the car?
Assuming that is the only rusty bit and you'll be putting the arches back on wouldn't it be best to get it repaired?
Potentially the rest of the wing seems pretty solid, will see what the bodyshop says, but may not be cost effective and new wings work out cheaper.
