HI All I am about to have both of my new front wings painted (off car) and will be replacing them back on the car myself. What sealant is recommended for this? I understand it's the type that stays flexible so wouldn't want to use tiger seal etc. Thanks Steve
Not sure about vw but on my 911 it was an adhesive strip much like blu-tak. It’s commonly used for holding caravan panels together and that’s where is is cheapest. Butyl sealing strip, that’s it.
I spent over an hour digging the sealant off to remove my wings. I'm going to run a bead of seam sealer down the join when the go back on.
Easy way to get a butyl strip is from a glazing company, flexibond or flexistrip by Hodgson sealants, that sort of thing, usually available in black and off white, even brown. Its used normally for sealing double glazed units in frames, ive fitted kilometres of the stuff, don't use the intumescent type as it's stupidly stiff.
