    Hi

I have recently bought a V reg audi s3, engine code is APY, for a conversion into my mk2 golf 1.6 driver (90 spec)

The s3 engine is quite high mileage nearly on 150k, but it sounds like it is running ok.

What would be the best things to do/change on it while the engine is out?

Could somebody give me a basic shopping list of what else I would need to buy? As I'm no mechanic and won't be doing the conversion myself

Should have a full g60 brake set up there but that's about it

    Cheers
    Tom

Also won't be going for big power probably just keep it standard for now, or might get a remap

There is quite a lot to consider when undertaking these conversions.

Engine mounts and brackets will need to be sourced. My 1.8T MK2 has -

    * G60 rear bracket on a standard rear MK2 engine mount

    * Solid front engine mount on a 02A bracket (as I'm using a 02A gearbox from a 16v).

    - I presume you'll be using the current 02J gearbox, and I think you can use the same braket. Can anyone else confirm this ?

    * New clutch kit. I went for a new G60 flywheel with a Sach VR6 clutch kit.

    * Down pipe and exhaust system (Trackslag or Qpeng)

    * Hydraulic clutch setup or seat cable change ?

    * Wiring. Rubjonny makes plug and play looms from both your 1.8T loom and the Mk2 loom. Or you can piggy back the Audis fusebox.

    * Intercooler. I went for a front mounted intercooler on mine.

    * Boost piping. Depending on where your intercooler is situated, like mine, I had to purchase various bends and boost piping.

There's more but that's all I can think of at the moment.

Any questions just fire away :)

Im doing almost the same, but with a K04'd ARY conversion. Whilst out im doing...

    Cam belt and tensioners
    Thermostat
    water pump
    Spark plugs

Depends on what you want to spend. Im doing con rods as i wanna play safe with Revo stage 2 map so im also doing

    Rods
    Piston rings
    big end bearings
    head gasket

Do you know the history of the engine?

All the best with the conversion mate

@rep - Cheers, yeah has pretty much full service history with it, not looking to spend too much but I'm sure it would be cheaper to do these now rather than later. How much roughly would it cost to buy all those? just standard parts

I used a Toyosports big FMIC on mine. They have a shop on eBay and normally sell @ great prices. :)

Regarding the piping, I used Ash Performance on eBay. Great quality and I've never had a problem with them.

Have a look through my build thread in the members section, loads on info on there showing my 1.8T build.

That's what I'm using. CDA gearbox code with VR6 Sach clutch, New G60 flywheel and a Seat cable clutch setup. All works really well together ;)

    Cam belt and tensioners 100
    Thermostat 10
    water pump 20-30
    Spark plugs 15

Can buy Cambelt and waterpump in "kits" that have tensioners etc in them. Just look for one that has the hydraulic tensioner with it.
Spark plugs will depend if your mapping it or not.

As Richard above, ive gone for the G60 fly and sachs VR6 clutch. A lot better price than the DMF.
Although ill be using a corrado pedal box for hydro clutch.

Ill second looking at Richards build thread. Full of useful info for you.

    Good luck mate.
