Hi all I have just bought a mk2 GTD. I am loving tidying the car up but have no experience with diesel engines. There is a pretty decent oil leak that seems to be coming from an injector. I have read plenty about other diesels leaking from knackered injector seals so is this the likely origin of the oil? Or is it just a coincidence that oil is pooling there? If it is injector seals is this a driveway job or one for the garage? I am willing to give plenty of jobs a go but don't have many specialist tools and can't afford to have the car out of action as its a daily... Thanks for the help!
Can you get photos on here that would help? If its engine oil then you may have a leak from the cylinder head cover gasket, thats about the only thing i can think of above the injectors where engine oil would leak from. If its diesel it could be the hose that joins between each injector? If so ensure the hose is pushed on fully then give a very gentle tug back. Reason for this is theres a barb like bit on the pipe that bites the hose to give a better seal (will make more sense when you see it hopefully, rather than my poor description) Also check the condition of the hose and make sure there in good condition. Not related to the leak but those injector hoses are also supposed to be a certian length and/or all the same length not sure if that would make any difference to general running but im sure its stated somewhere and the lengths are given in the parts lists. Not sure if engine oil would leak from the injectors if the seals were gone but good chance that fuel would?
