So i am in the process of rebuilding my mk2 after it was painted and i have come to the rack, the rubber have fallen apart as expected for a car from 1985, so all the grease is full of dust and grit etc.

i have set about stripping the rack and cleaning and painting, but what grease should be used? the new boots didn't come with a grease sachet and it looked like a white grease that was in there before i started cleaning. i presume the Inner ball joints and rack use the same lubrication.

VW list G 052168A1, not sure what it actually is though. a small tube is £16 from the dealer, watch out for sellers putting a massive markup on it

thats a 10g tube, i guess they don't use alot of it to sell it in such small quantities, beofre i cleaned the rack up it definitely had more than 10g in it.

    £28 from heritage....
