I have to remove rear beam and hangers for some chassis welding.

Am I right in thinking these have been set up from the factory?.

What's best bet to refit, was thinking drilling two locating holes before removing so I can locate with dowels/ pegs on refiting?.

    Any thoughts appreciated.

    Cheers, Keith.

the haynes and bentley have good info on how to refit so I'd just follow them.

I wouldn't want to drill any holes, but you could mark round the plates with paint, or put some dots on all 4 sides with tipex etc to guide you on refitting?

I'm chopping the jacking panels out so any marks will be in the scrap bin.

I'll have a read through Haynes thanks.

Was thinking 2x 5mm threaded holes but if it's easy enough to re-align I won't drill them.

I have removed the rear beam on the mk2 and mk3 for powdercoating works. The haynes manual has some info on how to line up the beam which is what I followed. I also made sure each of the 3 bolts was central to its hole in the bracket. This worked well on the mk2 however i found on the mk3 the brackets both needed to move outward from central bolt through bracket hole positions.

Both hangers were installed fully left, never had any handling issues so I'll put them back in same spot.
