hi guys got a mk2 caddy pick up , cross over model with skoda, its a sdi 1.9 vw engine , with a lucas diesel pump . does any one know the correct trouble shooting procedure for this type of pump , it seems half electrical and half mechanical , just cannot get it to draw the fuel through it, help appreciated on this one , I need to know what controls what on it , not much info on this one out ther cheers paul
do you have vacom ? if the throttle peddle sensor working ? is the fuel solenoid working ? if the pumps done over 100k miles speak to Diesel Bob http://www.dieselbob.co.uk/ probably needs a rebuild if the seal are gone ? or you could do a conversion to M-TDI using a Landrover 300TDI Pump and run on veg oil
got this sorted , what a pain original pump was knackered , just not pumping fuel rebuilt bottom end just didn't work , would not fire. then replacement pump was immobilized , , all hitting you at once so her we go , changed bottom end , got engine to fire with easystart or fuel pumped in direct .fitted new pump, no fuel no go , immobilizer issue, so stripped out emobilizer from original pump , refitted it to new pump refitted pump , happy days , dragged fuel through and it went , , so that was engine engine and box out 3 times head of and changed 3 times , trouble shooting , various pumps on and off at least 6 times , embaressed to say any more , so hears the spec 1.9 na diesel , mild gas flow and ported head lightened and balanced flywheel , cable adjusted pulling full throttle , sounds and feels very responsive for a na diesel , pulls 105 mph with the wheels off the ground , according to the speedo , gona ask my youngest son to get a vid clip of it , worked out how to make it rev higher but I can.t be bothered to take the pump off it again. all in all its a piece of crap and I can,t wait to get rid of it , but i couldn,t let it beat me . and now the lighting circuit don,t work , but any how big thanks to crispy , every bit of info helps ,
