Hi gang I'm debating putting mk3 dash in to my mk2 gti.... Is it difficult and are the end results worth the hassle?

its pretty dificult, need to chop out the metal frame on the bulkhead to make it fit right. as for the results, thats your call. do you like the mk3 dash enough to bother?

    Looks smart? Yes.

Worth the ballache to make it look anywhere near a decent fit? Definitely not.

yes it's worth it if it's not rushed and fitted properly
there's a lot of cars out there with mk3 dash conversions which are botch jobs, i'll fitting and non working heater system

Done the Vento dash which is nicer quality to the Golf one in mine, fully working heater and aircon system

That does look very smart, how much did the job set you back? It looks like a standard fit, quality bit of work there pal!!!

You can't have manual mirrors with this or a corrado dash.
Corrado dash is fairly easy but you have to butcher steering brackets to enable fitment of clocks. I did one in a non plug and play golf. Had to trace and solder each wire to get all functions working. Had all heaters working but windscreen demists half way up the screen on the mk2 due to corrados different shape.

yeah you can, just dont fit the knobs and push the glass with your finger like you had to do in the olden days ;)
unless you mean manual windows? fit a corrado 1 touch loom with the switches in the door cards. alternative as above mod the mk3 rear window switch for the front motors

Did you change the dash light colours using gels?

Cost me nothing really as I bought a fully running vento for use as an engine conversion and just transferred the stuff over, sold parts of the vento like the front end etc and made all my money back from that car

think you have to have electric windows as there wouldn't be enough room for manual crank handle, not sure though as my car has always had electric windows and mirrors

And yes I've used an EL panel for the heater which came from Poland
