I'm planning a career change that will invole me needing a van. I'm thinking of a mk3 esate.

What specs do they come in?
What do late ones fetch wise?
Are the interiors interchangable between GTI's and VR6's?
    Any pics of nice ones?

You can get SEAT Inca vans pretty cheap Ian. Same as the VW Caddy vans.

If you intend to fill it with crap - just buy an old Volvo estate or something.

    Bloody bulletproof those things.

Nah, i think it would have to be a golf.

Whats the best to go for? Petrol or Diesel and what kind of miles can the TDi take before it gets tired?

Broadly speaking, I'd venture to say that this analogy is perhaps a little strong.

diesel Passat is the way to go.these mothers are Heeeeuge (9ft ladder fits inside the car with the boot shut!)and I recently averaged 58 to the gallon on my holiday to Scotland......that works out to over 800 miles to a tank of fuel.

but it isn't as much fun as my GTI that's for sure.
