Mk3 Gti ady 2.0i factory immob removal defeat

    Mk3 Gti ady factory immob removal defeat
    Having major probs with the immob on my 95 m reg Gti
    Just asking can the factory fitted immob be removed by vag com

    The immob keeps cutting in on start up untill I disconnect the ecu then reconnect
    Then it starts

    Please help

    The immobilser can't be defeated using Vagcom but you can re-code the ECU to a different transponder and key chip if that is where the issue lies. Have you scanned the car with Vagcom for fault codes at all?

    If you want it properly defeated I had mine done by Stealth Racing a few weeks back - it was 85 plus the VAT. Spot on service.

    yah scan both the ecu and the immobiliser for codes to make sure it actually is the immobiliser. if it was the immobiliser, unplugging the ecu wouldnt help

    the code was a immob code
    but as soon as i unpluged the ecu left it for a min or so pluged back in it started

    scan the immobiliser next, this will tell you WHY its kicking in

    will book it in as only have a handheld scanner

    did it again this morning first time i started it cut out 2nd time it started ok

    i would try another reader coil to start with from scrappy, mine did the same changed it and its been good as gold ever since. just make sure its same type as yours as later mk3, seat and polo use a slightly different immob box and the reader off one of those wont plug in

    The code that come up is 17978
    Just checking google as not got it in my book

    thats the ecu code for start blocked by immobiliser, you need to scan the immobiliser itself the address is 25 if that helps?
