    hi i have a P Reg mk3 golf vr6 OBD2 that wont start.
It cranks over but no spark.
ive checked the fuses and relays an they seem to be fine the fule pump runs.
ive also changed the coil pack leads plugs and still no luck...

could they be a fault with the factory immobiliser??

need help asap as the engines going in to a mk2 golf soon.

    cheers mark.

Perform a scan on it to see if there are any stored faults.

crank sensor is top of my list of suspects when there is no spark

    Also engine blocked by immobiliser.
It would be best to get it scanned as "G28", P0340 etc will show up as an current fault it this is the culprit.

That "obd2" lead you bought must be an ebay special.
The sensor you replaced on the head is "G40" or cam sensor. This will not cause a non start.
The sensor you replaced, hopefully bottom right, behind oil filter housing would be G28 or crankshaft sensor. Sometimes if this does not sit properly you will not generate a plausable variable signal, required for sensing engine speed and the engine will not run.
To be sure that this sensor is working you will need a scan of ECU sensor to ensure the inputs are plausable. You do not have to use VAG-COM 409.1 software to do this as any scanner that reads KWP1281 can do. The PIDs from the diagnostic port should be similar to other makes of vehicle that speak in the same protocols.
