    Hi volks,
Anyone fitted that big weighted shift rod from a Mk3 to Mk2? They come up on ebay and just wondering if they’re a direct replacement or need tweaking in anyway? Plus, do they make a for a smoother shift?
    Cheers.

Does the shift feel different with the weight? What’s in the gas and gears kit, anything special in there?

It seems to slot home a bit more directly.

Gas N Gears, that's the legend that is Hotgolf, aka Martin, the famous gearbox guru.
His kit is all fancy precision machined stainless Steel with proper metal rod ends.

As mentioned much more positive shift ,did a manual conversion on a mk3 and the weighted rod came with all the parts for the pedal box conversion, was really impressed with the shift feel.
I would expect with a short shift it would be even better.

The ‘Hotgolf’ kit is a work of art, I don’t think I have a picture of it anywhere before I sold it, well both of them! He still makes them, definitely worth getting in touch with him.

It replaces everything that’ll wear on the gearbox linkage and that melty rubber ball. It looks gorgeous, works a treat.

Thanks guys, I’ll get in touch with Martin and fit the weighted shifter when it arrives from eBay. Let you know my findings here.

I have had both the mk3 weighted shift rod and Hotgolf's kit - recommend them and make a difference.

Had to pinch the battery off wife's golf yesterday, only just noticed it has the weighted rod on it. Bargain.

Cheers guys, weighted shift link has arrived and hopefully fit it tomorrow. Spoke to Martin and he said he hasn’t had time to make any of his linkage kits recently. Plans to make more at some point and will post on his Facebook when they become available. Cheers!

Fitted the weighted shift linkage and does feel a bit smoother through the box. Was only £17 off eBay so pleased with the results. Thanks for all your input again.
