    Hi Chaps...

I am looking for one of these and am going to view one on Saturday
    a 99 V Plate with 90k on the clock...

What do I need to look for, always had MK2, MK3's and an A3, never had a diesel or a MK4 so would like some advice...

Also the car is advertised as a GT TDI it has the sports interior, steering wheel, darkened rear lights and colour coded bumper mouldings but on the V5 and RAC website is showing as an SE ?....

How do I know if its a genuine GT ?....

    Thanks in advance....

    All advice highly appreciated...

check the engine code found in the bootstick, engine bay and handbook

Only the 110hp models above came in GT spec.
Should have a 6speed box too iirc.

I think the 6 speed box was on the 115 models and upwards and not on the 110....

yep, could well be right about the box

    Engine codes are typically:
    110: AHF
    115 : AJM
    130 : ASZ
    150 : ARL

logbooks are often wrong on the small details

As long as the sticker says what it should, prob ok.

vag might be able to confirm from vin

mystery solved spoke to VW UK today...

They confirmed it's an import from Holland in 1999 due to the high demand for the GT TDI's in 1999, so its basically called a TDI Highline which is the same as the GT spec and is better than the SE....but DVLA have it as an SE possibly because of the Climate control....

VW confirmed its a straight motor and has been imported due to high demand from car supermarkets buying them in bucket loads in 1999 !!

Do i still buy it ?
