    I've recently replaced the timing chain, guides and tensioners on my mk4 r32. Timing was checked multiple times with camshaft locking tool prior to rebuild. Everything was spot on. Now everything is fully built back up and the engine appears to be running better than ever. However...... when I go to check my new chain VVT +/- via VCDS both block 208 and 209 third column which measures the degrees is blank. I've checked blocks 90 and 91 and everything seems to be fine there. Any suggestions?

    Here's some additional info from VCDS regarding my VVT issue, is it possible that the VVT is so out of tolerance that both sensors can't give a reading? [IMG] [IMG]

    I seem to be struggling to upload Jpg images from my VCDS but here's a copy and paste of my fault code's.

    What label file are you using to monitor measurements?

    Contrary to internet fables and sadly the old german A3 3.2 post, blocks 208 and 209 are cam adaptations values referenced to crankshaft degrees so phase shifts of the cams can be accurate.

    Thanks for getting back to me. Firstly apologies as my use of VCDS is very limited and I'm a hobby mechanic. When on the page to measure the engine blocks I'm getting ..... Label file - Redir fail. I wasn't able to upload the pictures from my VCDS to this page but you'll see them on the R32OC forum as I was able to upload them to there. Thanks again

    Hey, I actually just got an email from ROSS-Tech telling me:

    It looks like we do not have a label file for your engine controller (
    022 906 032 CP ). You should try the Controller Channels Map function in
    Applications:

    https://emea01.safelinks.protection...daF3R2TOl9/rkSmREy9+ehydMOzEz7DKQ=&reserved=0

    Tell it to access Controller Address 01
    Function = check both "Measuring Values" and "Adaptations"
    Login = <leave blank>
    Output = Pre-label file

    Look in your C:\Ross-Tech\VCDS\Labels folder, copy change the the BLS file and to BFH and restart VCDS. This will give you the correct mapping for blocks 208 and 209.

    Because VCDS is a US made tool, often many EU engine codes are not supported. Does not mean the tool will not work.

    I do not have a login to that forum, not that I will learn anything from there.

    You probably do not have enough posts that is why.
    We can help with pictures.
