Chaps, Asking on behalf of a friend ... How do you take the engine cover off on a 1.4 Mk5 Golf? Apparently it is not held on with any obvious fasteners (clips/screws/bolts etc) and won't come off with a firm (gentle) tug. This is a hire car, so we don't want to try anything too destructive, but does anyone know (or have any good ideas about) how to remove the cover? Hidden screws/clips/bits that you need to remove before you can get the cover off? Any help more than welcome. If you happen to know what is necessary for a similar engine on a Mk4 that could be helpful as it may be similar. Oli.
