does anyone know the release date for this and if england is getting the 200bhp version or the 170?

 

Its getting the 200bhp engine and a detuned entry level car too. Plus a 180bhp TDI

Released over here in December AFAIK

 

The launch was due for September unless its been moved back

 

I think September is the European market launch (at Frankfurt again I think) - we are always behind them [:^(]

And that little 2.0 16v TDI can be tuned to 220bhp like the new Caddy VW Cup car. Could make the TDI very appealing.

Im still disgusted that VW filled us with crap about retaining the "GTI" status for the Mk5 though. They they go an announce introducory GTI models (ala 1.8 20v non turbo and 2.0 8v) and also the TDI version.

git im going for a red 3 door with the 18" rims arm rest with cd changer and cruise control , what options did you get/think are worth getting

 

still j.clarksons preference to astra/megane, despite both being more powerfull!

debating wether or not to get one

haven't seen many in white, infact, havent seen many at all, was discussing this last saturday when on the way to cinema, then we overtook a black one, then a blue one came the other way

 

i have seen a white 5dr and thought it looked it bit "not right " if you see what i mean !

 

i think the white ones look strangely appealing somehow, the only gti i have sold at vw has been white too...
