Good write up Rob. Thanks for taking the time to put pen to paper (or should it be finger to keyboard!?!).

I must admit I've never been a fan of auto boxes on sports cars, just because I look upon them as being the "lazy option". Hot hatches and sports cars are meant to be involving to drive, and I don't think a auto box can give you this. However, I do like the idea of the sequential element of the DSG. This at least still allows the driver to change gear when they want to instead of letting a computer do it for you. However, I have never driven a car with the DSG so it could completely change my views on autos. I am very tempted to take a test drive in a mk5 GTI just to see if it's half as good as the journalists are saying.

So far I have only seen one mk5 GTI on the road, which was in black and being driven by some old f@rt. I still think they are over priced, but at least that stops them becoming as common as the mk4 GTI did. I really want to like the mk5 GTI, but that rear end is not to my liking.

    Cheers, Jamie

I was just fooling around on the new Golf GTi configurator [sic] on
VW's site. If I was to buy one of these I would want a grand total of
zero options. it has aircon and a CD player out of the box.

Be honest, what else do you need?

    Good write up there

You just pay to little for your cars over there though.

I just picked up a Mk V 2,0L FSI Sportline on Friday, paid 21,5 K for a 2004 with 21K Km on the clock, new the sportline is 28K over here
