The girl I'm seeing has a Mk5 GTI , 2006 , she has a short 10 min spin to work , mostly urban , and rarely drives her Golf as VW intended , ie flat out.... It fairly drinks oil , even the best of Castrol . Is this normal? Anything apart from a strip down that'll help? It isn't smokey .

Heard a few reports of this, but apparently VW aren't doing anything, because as usual it's within their "acceptable limits" - what was it for a Mk2 Gti, something like a litre every 1000 miles?[:s]

I put in a bottle of Lucas oil treatment , and gave it a good brisk 200 mile drive , and she reports the oil consumption has drastically improved!

Driving short journeys and not giving it the beans could be coking up the piston rings.

For a ten minute journey you should get your lass a bike, this will reduce oil consumption and make her look fitter.

Pics required of course to prove the benefits.
