My thinking exactly, 1200 quid for 200 reliable bhp, BARGAIN! And more as soon as the major league chippers start releasing their finest.

Ull need a lot more that just the engine. Also for mk1 mk2 and mk3 you will need custom engine mounts.

but my point is, people will want to stick this mk5gti lump into just about everything and anything irrespective of cost!...its just the usual evolution of eng upgrading!

They only have limited numbers. Not like you are going to see loads of them acout all of a sudden.

Andy, yes, but the point is that its as cheap/cheaper than a 1.8t with 30k miles on the clock.

I know of one company in the UK doing this conversion but Ive not heard much about it.

You will need the same bits that you need to do a 20vt on factory management and some other bits too. The injectors are directly above the pistons and AFAIK theres no aftermarket management system to run them at the moment. Also theres no other ones available to swap them with. The turbo is part of the manifold and it uses one of the mounting holes where the back mk2 mount bolts onto the block for a water return. It is possible to fit to a mk2 tho. I had one of these engines about 5 months ago but decided against it as there too much head ache involved to do the swap and the tuning potential is limited due to turbo and injectors.

But its worth it to say that you were one of the first to do the swap.[:D]
