Two more magazines have now tested the mighty MK5 GTI and both have given the car tremendous praise! First off, Jeremy Clarkson raves about the car in the latest Top Gear Magazine, he really does like it... a lot! Secondly Car Magazine have done a group test pitting the first drive of the new MK5 GTI DSG against the RenaultSport Megane 225, the Civid Type R and the new MINI Cooper S Works. All cars in the test have a 0-60 sprint of less than 7 seconds! The Golf came second to the MINI Cooper S Works, due to the lack of driver involvement and cost comparison. However, the handling and cornering of the MK5 was "brilliant" and the DSG box awesome.
The Independant have also given the Mk5 rave reviews. They put it ahead of the Meganbe 225 and Mini Cooper Works S Said it was comparable in feel to the mighty Mk1 1.8 GTI and the Mk2 16v (they said the Mk2 16v was the definative Golf).
