According to this month's 'Car' there is a 1.8T powered Polo GTI on way in both 150bhp and 180hp versions. Anyone seen any other info or pics online?
polos are wierd when it comes to mk's.It probably wouldn't be the mk5, more like the mk6 facelift or 9n2 not seen anything on uk-polos about it, and we normally get the first releases direct from vw Edited by: pettsy
It will have a redesigned front end with similar headlights to the concept c apparently and corporate front end/grille similar to that of the golf. Engines are unconfirmed at present, although Autoexpress speculated that the car would feature a 1.8T.
If you cant see the pic due to hotlink protection, then check out this story http://www.wheels24.co.za/Wheels24/News/0,,1369-1372_1555248 ,00.html It is mostly speculation and artists impressions though.
Im sure I read something about a 20vt polo but i think its only coming out in germany for the time being!
They've actually got pics of it in this month's CAR. Apparently Bernd Pischetsrieder found a prototype hidden at the back of the VW 'experimental vehicles' shed, took it out for a spin, and loved it. They were invited to a test track to play a prototype in the current body shape. From what I've read it should be on sale late next year (in the facelifted car?). They reckon there will be a VW-Individual (the same department toying with a stripped out, lightweight Mk5 Golf GTI) version with 180 bhp. Badly translated Auto-Bild article here. A
My whole post was based on you saying that there would be a 180bhp lightweight Mk5 golf, lol, so i read it again and realised thats not what you meant. However, most press magazines do make a lot of stuff up from hearsay. The Lightweight Mk5 Golf GTI has been denied apparently. Edited by: Deako
