Morning chaps, I have an 07 plate mk5 Golf GT TDI (170) and she stinks!! Passes through MOT emissions no problem but sitting at idle it literally makes your eyes bleed. Anyone have any ideas? Going to check the vac and breather hoses but can anyone shed any light on the amount of nasty diesel greasy crap in the picture below? Cheers
looks liek there may be somethign missing off the round brass coloured thingy in the middle of the pic? dont know what it should look liek though...
If that oil on the top pipes and cam cover are not from your hands then it's coming out enough to be thrown there by the engine. So your stinky engine is probably losing oil and it's going into the alternator, belts and probably onto the exhaust as well and that's why it stinks. Find out where it's coming from.
You may want to start with a power wash/clean and then run it ...Stevie wonder could see the problem once clean and running or after a short run
There seems to be more oil on the middle pipe at the top of the picture than the other 2. Something to look at?
