    I've decided to finally treat myself with a new car, and I must say, the new MK7 Golf GTI is calling my name :thumbup:

    Been reading all the reviews and watching the vids on the net the past few weeks, and it does look like a cracking motor.

    I'll definitely be going for the GTI performance pack which includes:

    * An additional 10PS, taking it up to 230
    * Mechanical Limited Slip Differential
    * Larger Diameter Brakes

    And maybe the sound pack. ;)

    But, I want to hear some reviews from real people of what its like to drive first.

    Anyone own a Mk7 GTI yet ?

    Would love to hear some members reviews.

    Cheers.

    Didn't get a good review on 5th gear last night. It was mostly being hooned around a track by Tiff tho, go test drive one yourself and post up what you think :thumbup:

    I bought a Mk6 GTi which isn't a millions miles off the Mk7 earlier in the year and im well impressed with it. I also test drove a mk7 for an afternoons entertainment a month or 2 ago. I found it really nimble, agile and a good all round package. Also it still had the Golf GTi feel and looks spot on. Where as the R20 felt heavy and cumbersome even slightly boring. We have the Dynaudio sound system in the Mk6 and would recommend the sound pack all day long. Also I would go for the sport package mostly for the diff and you can modify the chassis set up via the laptop, I tweaked the Mk6 and made it much shaper.

    Look for ex demos with masses of optional extras they will be just coming on the market now with 3-4k and massive saving over list prices.

    Surprised with that really !

    Going to pop down there with the Mrs on Saturday, as she wants a Polo GTI too :)

    :thumbup:

    I really wanted the mk6 when it came out, but circumstances then stopped me from buying it back then unfortunately.

    That's a good idea to look at ex demos :thumbup: Will see what they can offer me on Saturday.

    Definitely want the Dynaudio package and the sports package. ;)

    Thinking of going for the reflex silver ;)

    Too many white cars about atm!

    Yeah I'm going for reflex silver me thinks ;)

    Saw a few 7`s when back in the UK recently, a good looking car ... hides it`s bulk quite well !

    These days I tend to baulk at new car prices but then recall that my 16v GTI was 16K back in `91` ... but then they don`t` make them like that anymore :cry: :)

    Look forward to your review ... red = :thumbup:

    FYI

    I've just filed the text for the full 8-page road test of a Mk 7 GTI, with Performance pack, for the December issue of Volkswagen Driver mag ( www.volkswagendrivermag.co.uk ) which goes to press this weekend... It should be printed and available by this time next week, and on sale in the shops from Nov 20. Was I impressed? Yes. Would I buy one? If only I could...! ;)

    regards

    a family member works for VAG and they have a massive demand but VW germany give very few to the uk on release so get ordering ;)

    it looks very nice, love the red stripe going through the headlights and grill, brings back the GTI look.

    only issue i have with the design is it looks more and more like a Leon. Still a Vag though :)

    Yeah a friend of mine who works at VW ruislip said the same. :)

    Me and the Mrs are going there on Saturday. She's wants a Polo GTI now ;)

    Thanks Ben :)

    I'll try and pop down one of the Essex meets when I get it ;)

    Haha lol

    The 19's look like they fill the arches better compared to the 18's.

    Wanna see them up close first though.
