    Hi All
The gearbox on my car is about to give up - diff bearings are howling - and I am not sure of the best way forward. Is there a later or better gearbox than the 020 that will fit and is it worth fitting? Can anyone reccomend a good gearbox company - im in the Guildford area ? Or do I have a go at it myself and is it worth it / easy replacing just the diff bearings ?
    Any help or suggestions appreciated.
    Kind regards

You need special tools to set the preload after replacing the diff bearings. I'd just buy a secondhand box and fit that - rebuilds are expensive.

Really is not worth spending money on a rebuild when there are loads of second hand ones out there. I have one that a mate has first refusal on at the moment but PM me if your interested
