Yup my girlfriend is forever making comments about my "boy racer" car. I keep telling her its a classic but she isn't having it, followed by the usual comments of

    "its too loud"
    "its too bumpy"
    "i want air con"
"why doesnt it have electric windows?"
    "Its too quick"
"It doesnt have airbags, its not safe"

bah. I always tell her she has her car to suit her needs, I have my car to suit my needs.... which happen to be caveman like.

Exactly what my wife says about mine.
Thankfully she has shut up about running costs ever since her Toyota's starter motor died & cost 180 for a new one (supply only) & I pointed out that was more than I'd spent on my MK2 in the last 2 years & that servicing for hers was 150 compared to 50 max for mine.[:D]

You all sound like you need to take control of your lives.

If you wifes/girlfriends life is SO unfulfilling than she has nothing better to do than moan about a car, or how loud you brush your teeth, then you clearly have bigger problems on the relationship front.

Lets be honest not many people are gonna appreciate the qualities of a mk2 gti unless they are an enthusiast of cars. It does upset me thou when people actaully laugh at my decent enough mk2 16v and say "you couldnt afford anything better? (they mean newer)" or similar - no you fool! its actually what i choose to drive!!!!

    Cheers
