Hello all. It is a pleasure to join Club GTI. I have owned a MK2 for a little under a year now and its by far already the best car I have ever driven! Even though it is only a 1.6 Driver with a Webber Carb it never fails to put a smile on my face. So recently I have come across a Mk2 1.8T AUG engine and an O2J Gearbox and have a few questions in regards to the conversion. Which Mounts would I require? Who is the best person to make an Engine Loom? (The car is a H reg and will be looking to keep the Mk2 Dash) Are MK2 16V Drive Shafts adequate for the engine? Would a 4 x 100 16V Brake Setup be enough stopping power for this 1.8? (baring in mind it will only be a standard 1.8t with a k03) Where can I get a full exhaust system made? Which Pedal box can use? (Looking to keep a Cable Clutch) Thanks, Bhav P.S - I will continue to post once I start the Conversation!
1. G60/corrado/passat 4 cylinderfront & rear assuming you keep mk2 subframes, any 02a gearbox so same donors plus 6 cylinder and mk3 golf 16v/tdi/vr6 2. ask around, plenty guys out there. I can do them if you can wait a long time, James E loms or Chris Bellman on facebook, few ebay guys etc. 3. yes 4. probably, but while there I'd go full G60 280mm its the same work. potentially cheaper/easier as the calipers and carriers can be had from pre-96 mk3 gti, 16v and vr6 5. whereabouts are you? style dynamics down south can sort you if you're nearby 6. keep the mk2 one, use the SEAT conversion kit: http://clubgti.com/showthread.php?107068
